It is more than anything a craft and an environmentally friendly pursuit done as a part of our daily karma- yoga sadhana. Planet Wise
Sundaram soaps was initiated by the Ashram primarily to provide an eco-friendly alternative to chemical based, earth-polluting and non-biodegradable soaps. Our consumption patterns cannot be at the cost of a healthy planet. Therefore from the manufacturing process to the packaging it has been our utmost effort to use recyclable and ecologically sustainable material, hence plastic has been entirely eliminated. Instead we use materials like glass, paper, metal, jute, cloth and 100% bio-degradable corn plastic. Our gift boxes are made from eco-friendly Kraft paper. We use the cold process method for manufacturing our soaps which requires minimum energy.
In an effort to further reduce the impact on the environment we have kept a minimum order quantity for all our products, thus avoiding single products being packed and shipped, which unnecessarily puts more load on the planet due to increased fuel emissions and extra packaging material being used and wasted. Plastic is non-biodegradable and has entered into our soil, water, food and micro plastics are even being found in cells of sea fish, thus making it a critical issue of worldwide concern. It is our consumption patterns and even small daily choices that will finally solve the problem. The collective responsibility rests on each one of us.
Therefore at Sundaram we are trying our best to avoid plastics altogether and also encourage our customers to do the same by placing bigger orders in groups, together with friends and family thereby reducing unnecessary packing material and fuel emissions. In this way we fulfill our joint responsibility of protecting our home – our planet.

Almond
This is a highly luxurious soap made using freshly crushed almonds. Almond milk and almond oil further enrich this soap.
Since the almonds are crushed just prior to making the soap and incorporated into the mix at the very end, all the natural goodness of the nut goes into the soap.
Essential oils of fennel, cardamom and rose have been used to give this bar a sweet fragrant note. These oils also add to the cleansing and soothing properties of this soap. The pure coconut and sesame oil base is extremely good for skin nourishment.
Sodium hydroxide is used as a saponifying agent, in the end product it is nil. The soap is made using the cold process method to retain all the natural glycerin content.

Pure Sandal
This bar contains soothing and highly aromatic powder of sandalwood. Sandal has been used since ancient times in Ayurveda for skin care. This creamy and gentle bar is extremely refreshing and revitalizing. The pure coconut and sesame oil base is very good for skin nourishment.

Honey and Milk
This soap has been made with pure honey and fresh milk from mountain cattle. Honey has been used since ancient times for skin care. It has an ability to soften and tone the skin, it is an excellent moisturizer and is also known to have antibacterial and antiseptic properties. It protects the skin from sun and helps in rejuvenating the skin. The milk used in this bar adds to its moisturizing properties.
Essential oils of cinnamon and clove stimulate and soothe the skin, being antiseptic at the same time. Geranium adds to the freshness and helps to balance skin disorders.

Pure Lavender
This is a gentle and highly aromatic bar containing the dried flowers of lavender. A touch of milk provides a soft creamy base. Ayurvedic herbs, a dash of lavender flowers and the pure fragrance of lavender essential oil make this bar extremely refreshing. The blend of essential oils containing lavender & patchouli gives this bar a dreamy fragrance. The pure coconut and sesame oil base is extremely good for skin nourishment.

Vetiver
In this bar we have used dried vetiver grass and essential oil of vetiver to make for a cooling and deeply aromatic soap. The use of ratanjot and manjishtha, which are ayurvedic herbs, enhances the skin care properties of this bar & provides the bright colours running through it.
A special blend of oils including patchouli and geranium combine to give this soap its final earthy fragrance. The pure coconut and sesame oil base is extremely good for skin nourishment.

Ghrit Kumari (Aloe-vera & Rosemary)
This soap is made of fresh aloe gel and crushed rosemary.Known in Sanskrit as Ghrit kumari, Aloe vera belongs to the lily family – even though it has a cactus like appearance. It has been used for thousands of years in the ancient civilizations of Egypt, Greece and India for medicinal use and skin care. The gel stimulates cell growth and helps in restoring damaged skin. It moisturizes the skin because of its water retention properties. Since it is absorbed quickly by the skin it can penetrate the pores and rejuvenate the skin. It also has antibacterial and antifungal qualities. In this recipe the uplifting fragrance of rosemary essential oil is combined with tea tree, eucalyptus, lemon grass and lavender essential oils to enhance the cleansing properties of the soap and give this bar a special aroma.

Himalayan Neem
The Neem trees growing in our ashram are used to make this soap. Our trees are free from any chemical pesticide. The leaves are plucked fresh, immediately prior to making the soap. Neem pulp, juice and leaves are put into this soap along with Neem oil extracted from the seeds. These are incorporated in the soap mix at the last moment to ensure they retain maximum qualities. Neem is extensively used in ayurveda as a purifier. It can also cure skin diseases.

Himalayan Neem (Antibacterial & Curative)
This is a soft face wash gel made with organic and fresh neem leaves from our ashram trees. Neem is widely known for curing all kinds of skin disorders. Its antibacterial properties help in preventing acne and skin infections. Neem has a soothing effect on skin allergies because of its anti-inflammatory quality. It reduces itchiness and irritation. Neem keeps your skin moisturized without making it oily and reduces excess oil, thus making the skin balanced and healthy.
Ingredients: Sesame oil, coconut oil, fresh organic neem pulp, blend of essential oils.
Usage: Mix a small quantity with water in your hand. Apply and rinse. Refrigerate for longer life.
